Horizon Coach Lines Green Practices

Horizon Coach Line Bus

Carbon Fund 2013 Horizon offers every client an innovative Carbon Offset Shuttle Program that provides a negative carbon footprint from ground transportation. The Carbon Offset Shuttle Program computes the logistical onsite shuttle information and creates a post show tally of the number of gallons of diesel each bus burned along with the number of numeric tons of each bus emitted.

In addition, our clients can participate in any of the three carbon offset programs:

  • Renewable Energy – supports clean energy development, such as wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass.
  • Energy Efficiency – reduces existing energy use, much of which comes from coal, oil, and natural gas.
  • Reforestation – absorbs existing CO2 emissions, which helps to reduce the excess greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
  • Our policy at Horizon Coach Lines is to purchase “green” whenever it is fiscally responsible and whenever a green supplier has met our strict customer service standards. Our offices at Horizon Coach Lines recycle paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminum, various electronic equipment, along with toner and ink cartridges. Our maintenance facilities recycle used engine oils and oil filters, metals, tires and batteries.

Horizon Coach Lines purchases Ultra-Low-Sulfur Diesel. According to the EPA, with the implementation of this new fuel standard nationwide, nitrogen oxide emissions will be reduced by 2.6 million tons each year while soot or particulate matter will be reduced by 110,000 tons. Our fuel conservation policies include our low / no idle program, our tire pressure program and our policy of lowering window shades when engines are turned off.
